Is Christ at Home in Your Heart? – (Ephesians 3:17-19)

Daily Verse(s)
That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Reading Notes
These passages tell us so much about our life in Christ, and the changes Jesus has brought about in our hearts and minds because of our faith in Him. First, Jesus dwells in us because we are filled with the Holy Spirit when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. And with our salvation comes the indwelling Holy Spirit, who does a work in our hearts and minds to bring about God’s process of spiritual growth in us, called “sanctification.” And as we continue to place our trust in Jesus alone, and continue with the study and reading of His word, the Bible. We become rooted in Him and grounded in the wisdom and love of the Lord. A love that does not come from ourselves, but from Jesus who imparts His love to us, storing it deep within our hearts through the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. A love that goes far beyond human understanding, and a love that in turn gives us abundant life in Him as we live for the Lord.

Through our faith in Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit in us as we submit our lives to God, He uses us for His kingdom work and we become living sacrifices evident for all to see. Our joy and prayer is that through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, as we submit to His guidance, we become filled with the fullness of Christ. Where we die to self and live for Jesus’ sake. And through the process of sanctification, we grow in the knowledge of the love God has for us and for those who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Moreover, we grow in wisdom, the wisdom we learn from God, through the study of His word, the Bible. The Bible is God’s divine revelation given to us in order that we may learn more about Him and His plan of redemption for all humanity. And as we study God’s word, the Holy Spirit who indwells us, helps to illuminate scripture for us. This means that as we study the Bible the Holy Spirit deepens our understanding of scripture, and our understanding of God’s love for us, in light of who Jesus is and what He has done for us.
