Satan Blinds Those in Rebellion Toward God – (2nd Corinthians 4:3-4)

Daily Verse(s)
But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Reading Notes
When people reject Jesus, they do so because they are in rebellion toward God and more often than not, it’s because they do not want God’s moral standard applied to their lives. In other words, they want to live in rebellion toward God and under the influence of a fallen world, seeking after their own righteousness and their own wants and desires. Moreover, we have to remember there are only two positions in this world a person can take. We are either followers of Jesus, receiving salvation through faith in Him. Believing in His divinity and what He did for us at the Cross of Calvary, or we are in rebellion against God! We have to understand there is no middle ground! All roads do not lead to God and we have to understand, regardless of the name there are only really two religions in the world today. There is the religion of self-righteous works, where a person tries to work their way into heaven by their own actions, and there is Christianity. A Christianity which says, we cannot save ourselves, and that salvation is by faith alone. Faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. Dear child of God, we have to understand that Satan would love the world to believe there is a choice in how we approach God, and that cannot be further from the truth. Regardless of the name of the religion, no person can earn their way into Heaven, regardless of how extreme or violent their acts of faith.

Therefore, we must always be about our Father’s business, which is telling others of the salvation only Jesus alone can provide.  And while Satan and his demons may harass and hinder the children of God in their work, they cannot blind us to the truth. They cannot change our eternal destination. However, they can hinder our Christian witness and the work we do for Jesus and bring chaos into our lives. That is why we rely on the Holy Spirit and not our own power. All followers of Jesus have three enemies in this world who will constantly fight against us. They include our sin-nature, a fallen world at enmity against God and Satan and those demons who follow him. Therefore, we rely not on ourselves, but on the power of God through our faith in Christ. Through spiritual warfare Satan and the demons that follow him can blind those in rebellion toward God. They can blind them to the truth of the Gospel and the salvation we have in Jesus. And oftentimes they will bring fortune and ease into people lives so they forget about God and forget they are in fact in rebellion toward God. Satan and his demons will do and say anything to achieve their goal, which is one more soul in Hell. Therefore, it’s only through the power of the Holy Spirit that we move forward preaching the Gospel of Christ by all we do. It is through the Holy Spirit, the armor of God and God’s word, that we face the spiritual warfare that is waged all around us.
