Advent: Through Jesus We Are Healed of All Sin – (Matthew 4:23-24)

Daily Verse(s)
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.

Reading Notes
We live in a fallen world and because of the fall there exists sin, chaos, decay, injury and disease. Jesus during His ministry has shown us that He is God come down to mankind and He demonstrated this by healing the sick, freeing those who were demon possessed and raising the dead back to life. The Bible tells us “they called His name Immanuel, which means God with man!” Jesus is truly God with us, He is the Second Person of the Trinity, the eternal God who stepped out of eternity and took on flesh with the incarnation. Jesus did this for no other reason than to reconcile sinful mankind back to a Holy God. Jesus walked among us healing and saving those who placed their faith in Him. After His resurrection Jesus was witnessed for forty days preaching and strengthening those who believed in Him. After which He ascended into heaven in front of hundreds of people.  The Bible tells us He is seated at the right hand of God the Father, where He daily makes intercession for us before God. This is important for us to remember, to be seated at the right hand of the king was considered a position of power and authority.

Jesus seated at the right hand of God the Father shows us once again the authority and sovereignty which belong to Him alone as Lord and Savior. Moreover, the fact that the Bible tells us Jesus is seated, is indicative of His completed work. Jesus is seated because His work of salvation has been completed on the Cross of Calvary. There is nothing more mankind can do to add to our salvation. There are no good deeds or religious acts by which we earn a spot in Heaven. Rather, the Bible tells us, “we are to believe in the one whom God has sent.” That is, believe in Christ Jesus our Lord. Jesus is our advocate before God the Father because He is the only one who paid the price for our sins, once and for all times. His righteousness was “imputed” or freely credited to us in order that we can be righteous before the eyes of God. Moreover, His spirit lives in each and every one of us who place our faith in Him. Therefore, we can truly celebrate this time of the year with joy because we know that God is for us, God has saved us and indeed God is with us! Jesus forever will be our God and the Holy Spirit will always be helping us to grow in Christ, until we go home to see Jesus face to face.
