Acknowledging God in Our Walk – (Proverbs 3:5-7)

Bible Verse
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil.

Reading Notes
As believers, we must remember that the Lord’s ways are not our ways. And even with God’s word to guide us, we cannot begin to understand the ways of God. Therefore, we are through faith to place our full trust in the Lord. We must never forget no matter how much education, knowledge or wisdom we gain through life, it can never replace putting our faith in Jesus and it can never gain us the ability to understand the Lord’s ways. To presume such is an indication that our own pride has blinded us in our walk with Christ. Moreover, pride is the one sin that can lead to the destruction of any individual, because a proud heart is a heart which ignores God and mistreats others. Likewise, all that we are, and all that we have, is a gift from God. God is the Author of creation, He created us with all the abilities and attributes we possess.

Our talents come from the unique blend of gifts God has given each of us. In addition, God is sovereign and all blessings we receive come by the grace of God. But more importantly, it’s through Jesus we have our existence and gain the security of knowing where we’ll spend eternity. Therefore, since we exist and walk by faith through Christ, we likewise should acknowledge the Lord in everything we do. The term used for acknowledging in this section of scripture, carries with it the meaning of having an intimate relationship with God through Christ. This also includes the regular study of His word. More importantly, this means to have a real relationship with Christ Jesus our Lord, through faith. This means to honestly love the Lord, and not to just give a nod of recognition to the Lord, as we live our day to day lives, doing our will. We are to submit to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and carry out God’s will on a daily basis.
