Daily Bible Verses for 6/20/2016
Bible Verse
We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.
Reading Notes
When the Apostle Paul speaks of Satan he calls him, “the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience.” Paul has said this in reference to Satan’s strong influence over this world since the fall of man. And this is truer today than ever before as we get closer to the return of Christ. We have to remember that in our world today Satan and his demonic forces are the major influence behind the world’s philosophies, psychologies and social movements as well as the influence behind world leaders who do not know Jesus. This world we live in is an enmity against God because of its rejection of Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore, dear believer, we can never forget there are only two spiritual alignments a person can have in this world.
Either we are in Christ or we are under Satan, there is no middle ground. There is no such thing as a neutral position! Either we are with Jesus or we are with Satan. Every single person who has ever lived and will ever live, is in one of these two camps. There is no neutral ground! Satan and this fallen world would love you to believe there is such a thing as a neutral position on Jesus, why? Because Satan owns the neutral ground, and neutrality still means rejection of Christ. That is why someone who has not accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior is lost under the influence of the “prince of the power of the air,” who the Bible tells us is Satan. And our calling is to seek out the lost and show them the light of Christ. Jesus told us that the Gospel will be preached to the “ends of the earth,” prior to His return and this is our great commission. As followers of Christ, we are called to use our time, talents and resources, to spread the Gospel, seek those who are lost and help those who are in need.
