Daily Bible Verses for 12/23/2016
Daily Verse(s)
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Reading Notes
Dear believer, it would be more than enough to say God’s gift has given us the forgiveness of our sins and guaranteed our eternity spent with Him. However, there is so much more for all of us who have been adopted into the family of God, through our faith in Christ. Do you not know we will reign and serve with Jesus? Do you not know we will see and experience the new heaven and the new earth? When we were children, we were often told about Heaven, however, now that we are grown, God’s word gives us a glimpse of our future. We should also know we will not only see Heaven, but we will also see Christ’s millennial reign. Moreover, we will then see Jesus usher in the new heavens and the new earth. We will see heaven briefly when we go home to be with the Lord before the end of this age and the start of the Millennial Kingdom.
But blessed child of God, do you not know we will return with Christ, and live for all eternity on the new earth and gaze into the new heavens? God has promised this to us and because of His immutability, God never changes. Therefore His promises toward us never change. So at this time of the year as we think of Jesus know this. He has given us way more than we can comprehend and more than mankind can ever record. It cost us nothing, but cost Jesus everything, which He gave to us willingly because of His love for us and His desire to spend eternity with us! We must never forget, before the foundations of the world were laid in place, God the Father chose us to spend eternity with Christ Jesus our Lord. Moreover, Jesus determined to step out of eternity and take on humanity. Why? So that by dying for us, we could live for Him! Therefore, it is our joy to honor God as we celebrate the incarnation of our King and Savior Christ Jesus the Lord! And we can never forget Christmas is for one purpose only, and that is to celebrate the day God took on flesh and dwelt with humanity!
