Daily Bible Verses for 10/9/2016
Bible Verse
No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lamp-stand, that those who enter may see the light. For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.
Reading Notes
The truth of the Gospel message is that salvation is through faith alone in Christ alone. Moreover, this message is not something that was meant to be kept secret. Instead, it was meant to share with others. God’s grace and mercy are meant as a shinning light, to bring hope to a dark and fallen world, for all to see. God’s grace and the salvation we have through Christ, combined with His word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit provide everything we need to journey through life and face the trials which are common in the fallen world we live in. Like the illumination from a lamp in the darkness, the life of the Christian is meant to bring light to those still trapped in sin, just as God’s word exposes and brings all things to light. In other words, we were not meant to just share the Gospel message with what we say, but also with the way we live our lives. How we live our lives, should represent the love of Christ to others.
This is because our primary roles as followers of Jesus is to take the time, talents and resources the Lord has blessed us with and to use those to spread the good news of the Gospel as far and wide as we possibly can. The Bible tells us there is nothing kept secret from God and that all things hidden will be brought into the light during the time of judgment. Therefore, we know the time is short and the harvest of souls for Christ is overwhelming, which makes our calling all the more urgent. We as followers of Jesus, take comfort in knowing that God remembers our sins no more. This means, because of the hope we have in Jesus, our lives should act as a lamp displaying the light of the Gospel message and our faith in Christ to the rest of the world. Moreover, we should always remember the joy of the Gospel is fueled by the study of God’s word, and submission to the guidance of the Holy Spirit as He leads us in our daily walk with Christ.
