Daily Bible Verses for 3/27/2016
Bible Verse
Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men [angels] stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? “He is not here, but is risen.” Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.'” And they remembered His words.
Reading Notes
Indeed, Jesus has risen! Dear child of God, “Resurrection Sunday” is not only the completion of Passion Week, but it is the fulfillment of our faith! Moreover, the resurrection of Jesus is a real historical event and so much more! Jesus stepped out of eternity and took on humanity in the incarnation for no other reason, than to bear the Cross of Calvary. The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is the foundation of God’s plan of redemption. The resurrection is our guarantee that Jesus is truly our God and our Savior. The resurrection of Christ, is our guarantee of the eternal life we have waiting for us with Jesus. Without the resurrection there would be no point to Christianity, it would be just another religion. Therefore, the resurrection proves to us there is eternal life in the name of Christ. It proves to us that salvation is a free gift of God, given by His mercy, through His grace, because of His immense love for us. We have to remember that Jesus our Lord and Savior is of the seed of David through Mary and yet the Bible tells us as the Second Person of the Trinity, He has eternally existed.
Jesus human position as the seed of David and His divinity as God, makes Jesus alone the rightful Heir to the throne of David. In other words, this confirms for us that Jesus is the Messiah, the one called “King of kings and Lord of Lords.” Moreover, His position as heir proves His humanity, while His divinity proves His sovereignty. And it’s His death and resurrection, which prove to the world that Jesus is who He claimed to be, the living God of Heaven, dwelling with man! And that is why the resurrection of Jesus is one of the central pillars of Christianity. And our joy is that because of our faith in Jesus, we have eternal life. Through our faith in Christ, which is guaranteed by His resurrection, we have eternal life! And the security of our salvation is provided to us by the Holy Spirit who indwells each and every Christian. Therefore, through faith, our old selves and our sins past, present and future were crucified with Christ on the Cross. With His resurrection, we too are raised as a new creation of God. Through faith we have been adopted into the family of God and become joint-heirs with Christ. Thereby assuring us that we will spend eternity with Him. And when many ask us how we can be certain of our faith and the eternity, which awaits us? Our answer shall forever be, because “He has risen!”
