For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
As Christians our endurance comes from the trust we have in Jesus and living daily by the will of God the Father. We do so as followers of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit who helps us to remain steadfast in our faith through trials. As part of our salvation, we have the Holy Spirit who indwells us, giving us the strength we need to face any trials that come our way. In addition, we know because of our relationship with Jesus, we have security in the knowledge of where we will spend eternity. Therefore, our unseen hope and assurance is in our future glory!
In other words, our hope is in Christ alone and the future glory that awaits us when we go to spend eternity in His presence. Our endurance is strengthened because we hope not in what can be gained here on earth, which is here today and gone tomorrow. But on what awaits us back home in the presence of our Lord. And as we remain steadfast through trials by the strength of the Holy Spirit, we gain perseverance and endurance, as we grow spiritually. Our minds and hearts are renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit whose work of sanctification continues on a daily basis. His work changes us from the inside out making us more sensitive to the things of God and His will in our lives.
